Muar -part II

Re-posting ..tak de idea da...

Gambar2 bangunan lama di Muar..Masjid Sultan Ibrahim 2 (ni kira baru)

The Masjid Sultan Ibrahim 2 is a replica of the Masjid Sultan Ibrahim. It is located in Tanjung Agas, across the Muar river almost diganolly opposite the Masjid Sultan Ibrahim in Muar town. Its architecture and splendour is somewhat similar to that of the old Masjid Sultan Ibrahim

Masjid Sultan Ibrahim (1927)

The Masjid Sultan Ibrahim is one of the most beautiful building in Muar. This historical mosque was built in 1927 and officially opened on 1930 by the then Tengku Mahkota of Johor (Crown Prince) - Tengku Ismail. Built at a time when Malaya was under the British rule, it is not suprising then that this mosque has the unique distinction of having an architectural design very much influenced by the British. It's eye-catching four-storey minaret is located at the back of the mosque. The roof of the mosque's main building still has its original clay tiles but they are blocked from sight by a high brick wall. This mosque has become the main mosque for the town of Muar for decades and one of the town's most recogniseable landmark.

The Royal Customs Building (1909)

The Royal and Customs & Exercise Building is situated along Jalan Maharani. It is near the Sultan Ismail Bridge where the other side of Muar is and towards Melaka.

Bangunan Sultan Abu Bakar (18xx ..19th Century)

Another historical building in the Muar town area, the Bangunan Sultan Abu Bakar was constructed in the 19th century with great influence of the English style architecture. The building most striking feature is undoubtedly its grand staircase - a uniqe feature that is not available in other buildings here. The state emblem was also carved in the building's facade overlooking the staircase. The building used to house various departments and offices ever since the colonial days and currently the district land office is located here. Right in front of the building are the Muar Court House and Muar English school, two other historical buildings in the town.

High School Muar (1915)

Muar High School was established in 1904 and the majestic building built in 1915 is still standing. During the Second World War, the school was used as a Japanese concentration camp. Its alumni include national and state leaders, high-ranking government officials and industrialists, such as Tan Sri Osman Saat, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Dato Seri Abdul Ghani Othman, Dato Chua Jui Meng, Rahul Doraisamy, Sathesh Narayanan, Adam Tee, Victor Yeo, Senthil Doraisamy and Triptipal Singh.

Embassy Hotel
Aging Embassy Hotel is probably too old for modern peoples to stay, you know it was built at least 50 years ago, look cool anyway, is in Muar town center.

There are many associations setted up by the Chinese. The association is where the clans or members meet together.
CHUAN CHUAN ASSOCIATION
Chuan Chuan Association has a very magnificant building. There are red lanterns hanged all over the building.

Teo Chew Association

Teo Chew Association is another associations in Muar. Teo Chew peoples will go to Teo Chew Association, very simple

Cha Yang Association

Cha Yang Association is another associations of ChineseMalaysian
Yong Choon Association
Yong Choon Association is another associations in Muar's main street.
ChineseMalaysian Associations is quite similar to Manchester United FC, Chelsea FC, Arsenal FC, Liverpool FC, Everton FC, etc. These associations are not football clubs but ethnic clubs, Yong Choon go to Yong Choon Association, Liverpool fans go to Liverpool FC Clubs, exactly.
goldsmith's store sign was in arabic script

One of the things that really attract visitors to this simple town are rows of well preserved pre-war buildings that still dominate the town's architecture. The age of most buildings can be easily identified since the dates of completion were cast on the buildings' exterior (middle top panel). These buildings are the magnets, the drawing powers that drawn visitors to Muar and ones can easily recall the memories of the nostalgic yesteryears.

1947 (post war)1929 (pre war)1926 (pre war)1927 (pre war)

In Muar, the streets are all being color-coded. Doesn't matter what is your company trade mark color, so long your lot fall under green lane, you're green kind of thing. The advantage is if your friends are loss driving into the wrong street, you just have to ask them what color street they are at. Of course the tourist map must label the colors accordingly

YELLOW STREET . (Jalan Ali / Jln no.4)

PINK STREET (Jalan Mariam / Jln. no.3)BLUE STREET - (Jalan Maharani / Jalan No.1)

It will be interesting to walk on foot around the town of Muar.Green, Pink, Blue and Yellow Streets - The street of Muar is colour coded. We walk around the street of Muar in search for a recommended coffee place after lunch. It will be a very useful reference if you need to find your way if you are not familiar with this town.
